About CEC Education
CEC Education is an independent guide to school and university admissions for families and students who move between countries and education systems.
A new publication
CEC Education relaunched in 2026 as a new publication. The cec-education.com domain was previously used by an unrelated business that offered language study programmes. That business, its staff and its programmes have no connection with the guides published here, and we do not offer language courses, placements or travel.
What we publish
We write explanatory guides to admissions: how international schools assess new students, how UCAS and the Common App work, what the main admissions tests involve and how to plan the year before applying. We do not run applications for anyone, charge for advice or receive payment from schools or universities for coverage.
How we write and update guides
Our guides are written by the CEC Education editorial team. We are not admissions officers and do not claim insider knowledge of any institution's decisions. We take dates and rules from the bodies that set them (UCAS, the Common Application, College Board, ACT, ETS, the IELTS partners and the International Baccalaureate) and from schools' and universities' own pages. Each guide shows when it was last reviewed.
When a rule changes, we update the guide and the review date. When we get something wrong, we correct it and, for anything more than a typo, note the correction at the end of the page.
Links
Some guides link to outside resources, including school and university directories, where they help a reader take the next step. We choose links for usefulness to the reader. We do not accept paid links or sponsored guides.
